Show news Aug 28
I sent list our last email. To find reasonable rooms, contact Trivago. They will give you the best rates and they are pretty reasonable. If you contact the motel directly, costs are significantly higher...don't try to cut out the middleman this time! If you are having trouble, contact me for assistance.
More on the show in upcoming emails, but a few notes now.
1. Wow! You should see the carvings that will be in the silent auction. At least 6 from nationally known carvers..... not giving out names yet! I have most of them in hand already...very impressive.
2.Demonstrations, we are still looking for volunteers for demonstrations. We have several lined up but could use a couple more.
3. We have a new competition, Best Caricature Carving to go along with the Best in Show, Clair Smith Best Realistic Bird, Best Instructor Assisted and the Best in the Open, Intermediate and Novice classes.
4. David Cummings will be there to get your equipment in tip top shape. He does a great job sharpening, so bring in your tools!
5. We will have 6+ tables for Bob Stadtlander with carving supplies(stadtlandercarvings.com), Power Carving Depot (powercarvingdepot.com), and the club will be selling wood plus all the vendors and don't forget the biggest wood carving raffle in the Southeast! If you have supply needs, contact the vendors ahead of time so you can avoid the shipping costs.
7. Entry fees for competition are $20 unlimited entries or $10 for first entry and $3 for entries after that. If you use the unlimited entry method (3 carvings per category). Category winners receive a cash award with their ribbons with 4 or more entries in that category!
8. We will have a banquet Saturday evening. Free raffle for participants!
9. If you read this note down to here, AND you email me before September 1, you will be included in a special raffle for the special people who read the complete note. Don't reply ALL ....better chance for you to just send me the email.
